Rockledge, FL – (July 3, 2013) – Macy’s will partner with Healthy Start Coalition of Brevard County, Inc to invite customers to participate in Macy’s eighth annual national “Shop For A Cause” charity shopping event on August 24, 2013. Customers can purchase shopping passes from Healthy Start Coalition of Brevard County, Inc now. Macy’s “Shop For A Cause” is a unique one-day-only shopping event created to support local charities’ fundraising efforts, which has helped raised more than $46 million for charities across the country since 2006.

“Over the past eight years, Macy’s annual ‘Shop For A Cause’ has raised more than $46 million for local and national charities, providing our associates and customers an opportunity to give back to those organizations that touch their hearts each and every day,” said Martine Reardon, Macy’s chief marketing officer. “Giving back is a key component of Macy’s culture. Macy’s has provided Healthy Start Coalition of Brevard County, Inc with shopping passes to sell for $5 each. Healthy Start Coalition will keep 100 percent of every shopping pass it sells. The more Healthy Start Coalition sells the more money it will raise!

By purchasing a shopping pass from Healthy Start Coalition of Brevard County, Inc, customers support all moms and babies in Brevard County to make sure they have the services they need to begin healthy lives together. while enjoying a day of spectacular discounts, entertainment and special events at Macy’s. Pass holders will receive special discounts on most regular, sale and clearance purchases all day, but some exclusions apply.

Leadership Brevard Selects Healthy Start as Leadership Action Project

Jen-Pics-012During its unparalleled 25+ year history, Leadership Brevard, the flagship community leadership program of LEAD Brevard has organized, guided and overseen the successful completion of over 125 community projects. Each year, the Leadership Brevard class contributes over 700 annual volunteer service hours to the community; a cumulative value of $375,000.00 This fall, LB will be entering its 27th year of achieving excellence in leadership in Brevard County by “developing and inspiring individuals to serve our community.”

For 2012-2013, Leadership Brevard has chosen Healthy Start Coalition of Brevard as one of its Leadership Action Projects. Healthy Start is excited about this partnership and looks forward to working closely with the talented members of the group that include; Ashley Carraro, Director of Child and Family Services for Brevard Family Partnership; Jeanna Goolsby, Jr. Business Development Specialist for Luke & Associates; Diane Arnold, Program Director of Devereux; Chris Wurtzbacher, Mortgage Manager for Community Credit Union of Florida; Michael Diaz MD, Diaz Center for Plastic Surgery; Craig Beam, Technical Operations Manager for Electric Picture Display Systems; Susan Bearden, Director of Information Technology for Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy; Katie Cannon, Senior Bookkeeper for Brevard Alzheimer’s Foundation; and Alix Townsend, City Planner for the City of Rockledge.
